Conferring of First Cohort of University Certified Lean Black Belt students in GCC States

Joe Aherne, CEO, of the Leading Edge Group, attended the conferring today in Dubai of the first 4 students to receive the Lean Black Belt certification in the GCC states as awarded by the University of Ontario, Institute of Technology. All students are employed by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) which employees a workforce of over 9,000 employees and provides over 600,000 customers with electricity and over 500,000 customers with water across the Emirate of Dubai. This was a unique occasion for the Leading Edge Group on its entry to the UAE market and is an important first step in offering and delivering their international accredited continuous improvement programmes across the GCC and other Middle Eastern countries.

Joe Aherne, on his second visit to Dubai in the last two months, emphasised the importance of these foreign markets to the ongoing growth of their business “The GCC States are of great strategic significance to our continued development in the region and we are proud to be associated with such prestigious professionals from one of Dubai’s leading organisations in operational excellence supported by continuous innovation and process improvement. The UAE is a great example of what can be achieved through visionary leadership and unstinting focus by its rulers and we are hopeful that with our local partners we can develop a centre of excellence for continuous improvement in Dubai which can become the benchmark for the entire region”
